Moonlight space – Mother temple 2023

Every being is processing of an existential creation by its fundamental core, and all have an original birth status which we call Mother or Mother Nature Womb.
No one knows where’s atom and great universe were born, but Mother’s always here and there with humankind.

Naturally, the same dynamical figure –an ellipse – is forming not only our quantum- universe field but also movements on the Earth as: tree, flower, egg, snail…etc. Ancient civilizations are almost based on Mother Earth of great respectation. Mother is vital concept-symbol of all the best thing of our daily life.

That’s why, from ancient time up to now, Mother Faith ceremonies exist everywhere in the World.

Similarity, Mother worship has long traditional history in Vietnam.
Unique and diversity of Vietnam Mother faith festival was recorded by UNESCO heritage 2017.
May be in the World, many Mother worships were disappeared, but ancient traditional one in Vietnam is preserved and continuing as a vital part of society,
it creates a hidden value of our contemporary life.
In Vietnam, country with 54 minorities and the Kinh is occupied 86%, various kinds and symbols of Mother faith are existing, but there’s a main heart-core symbol which is common authentication, they are: Mother of Sky, Mother of Water and Mother of Earth with three typical colors followed by: Red, White, Green.

Our proposal, a Mother Temple, is located at the Luong Son district distances around 60km to the south west of the Ha Noi capital. Site is a magnificent landscape of mountains and water resource. Other way, this area, where the Muong minority is main popular, was sheltered in a transitional field of exchanged cultures between the Kinh and Muong minority, it makes a diversity of daily life and traditional events. With modern concept, the project is built on the same place of old wooden temple which is slowly destroyed by termite and time!

1-Spatial composition:

Three altars standing-cave form are placed at the center of a sacred ellipse space, which is also surrounded by water surface in a donut form, a gap in-between
of inside and outside. Light and wind are filtering indirectly through this gap, create a new sense of faith space. The inward, pure and simple atmosphere let visitor enjoying deep emotions and traditional events of Mother faith, and thanks for steps in design making a comfortable seating of audience and local people.
Surrounding central ellipse space is two interconnected historical galleries of Mother faith with a ring form. The first gallery displays the Mother faith history of the Muong minority and functions as entrance at the same time, and the other one displays of the Kinh minority. This vibrational ring from space plays as medium space between the central sacred core and site natural landscape, and let the visitors have time to understanding about temple’s mother symbols and other relationships before entering the center of Mother Altars.
Moonlight plays a poem idea of thinking about Mother – Woman and psychological biology at the same time.

Futher more, at back side of the temple, design develops a space for World Mother Faith, a pavilion of an universal knowledge about Mother Faith from ancient time of the Earth civilizations, a place where World people come to share the Great Love of Mother !

2- Economy:

Vietnam is developing country, so common structure of brick and concrete with simple finishing requirement helps the local workers are convenient in building and saving a cost as well.
Other way, old wodden structures are almost destroyed by termite, so columns and doors are reused in new way of rememberance and bring them into gallery spaces as art objects.

3- Climate:

Built in a typical tropical area, temple is designed in maximizing a natural ventilation and light quality, preserving existing trees.
4-New function:
There’s no seating place for audience or visitor in traditional vernacular faith event , so central ellipse space was designed with a small amphitheatre-like form, it’s simple friendly functioned and recalling a new connection with the World.
